About the Subscription Box

What is The Dusted Dozen Subscription Box?
The Dusted Dozen is our signature seasonal subscription. You’ll receive four boxes per year, each filled with 13 handmade treats including decorated cookies, scones, cakes and/or Southern-style biscuits. Each box is thoughtfully baked, beautifully packaged, and designed to feel like a little celebration. Satisfaction guaranteed.

What kinds of desserts are included?
Each box includes a rotating mix of hand-decorated sugar cookies, buttery scones, and classic biscuits. Flavors and designs change with the season, but quality and care are always the same.

Why do you only offer a subscription box right now?
We are starting intentionally and focusing on doing one thing exceptionally well. The subscription model helps us plan demand, maintain high standards, and build a loyal customer base in 2026. We plan to expand slowly in the future, once we know we can do so without compromising quality or service.

Can I order more than one subscription?
Yes! You are welcome to purchase multiple subscriptions for yourself or as gifts, as long as availability allows.

Box Preferences and Flexibility

Can I choose which items are in my box?
Not at this time. Each box is curated as a complete experience. This allows us to focus on consistency, creativity, and quality.

What if I don’t love one of the items?
Taste is personal, and we understand that. While individual item swaps are not available, we care deeply about your experience. If something feels off, please reach out and we will always do our best to make it right. We do plan to offer personalization to the boxes in the future, so if that’s a requirement for you, join our mailing list and stay tuned!

Can I cancel or pause my subscription?
For now, subscriptions are purchased annually and cannot be paused or partially refunded. This helps us plan responsibly and deliver a consistent experience for everyone.

Gifting and Future Offerings

Can I give a subscription as a gift?
Absolutely. Subscriptions make wonderful gifts, and we offer free printable gift cards for recipients. If you are purchasing as a gift and would like something tangible to provide to the gift recipient (like to put under the Christmas tree!), just reach out to us at hello@dusteddesserts.com and let us know and we will give you something snazzy to download and print (or if you’re local we will drop it off!).

Will you offer custom orders, catering, or one-off items?
Not yet, but yes, that is the plan. Starting with the subscription allows us to grow carefully. Subscribers will be the first to hear about new offerings and receive special pricing when they launch.

Ingredients, Allergies, and Dietary Needs

Are your ingredients locally sourced?
Not consistently yet, but we would love for them to be. As we grow, we hope to partner with local Triangle businesses such as honey producers, toffee makers, or specialty ingredient suppliers. Do you offer gluten-free or vegan options?
Not at this time. Our current kitchen and processes do not allow us to safely offer gluten-free or vegan items. We appreciate your understanding and will definitely revisit this in the future, so follow us for more information soon!

What if I have food allergies?
Our baked goods are made in a kitchen that handles common allergens, including dairy, eggs, wheat, and nuts. We cannot guarantee allergen-free products.

Are your products nut-free?
No. Some items may contain nuts or be made in proximity to nuts.

Pick-Up, Delivery, and Location

Where are you located?
We are a Chapel Hill–based home bakery serving the Triangle area.

Do you offer delivery?
Pick-up in Chapel Hill is always available. Local delivery within a limited radius may be offered for a small fee, depending on the box and timing.

Are your desserts made in a commercial kitchen?
Dusted operates as a home bakery under North Carolina regulations, with a strong focus on cleanliness, care, and food safety.

Why is it called Dusted?
Well, it started with the desserts. Most of my cookies, scones, and biscuits end with a little dusting of powdered sugar. But if you know me, you know I love a theme. I’m Daniel, married to Darek. We have twins, Darby and Darwin, and a dog named Duncan. People call us “The D’s.” I went to Duke (don’t hold that against me, Tar Heels), and I bake desserts. So when it came time to name this bakery, it simply had to start with D. Dusted just felt right. And, because a little powdered sugar makes almost any dessert better!
